A Few of My Favorite Things: Links
There's a lot of stuff I've been meaning to write about, but just haven't been able to put my thoughts into one post. It's a good thing other people don't have the same problem.
If you haven't seen it yet, Jim Crikket over at Knuckleballs blog has a great write-up of this weekend's Snappers-Kernals series, with some fantastic pics. Whether you care about the minors or not, it's definitely worth checking out.
If you have ever wanted to see someone draw an effective comparison between 12 Angry Men and the current state of the Seattle Mariners organization, here is your chance.
OMG, OMG, OMG, Anthony Tolliver might be my favorite Timberwolf ever. Sorry, KG. Also, welcome to Minny, Michael Beasley. I am no fan of David Kahn, but I don't think he gets enough credit for the things he does right (although, keeping his mouth shut is apparently not one of them). This year's team probably won't be any good (again), but I admit I find them intriguing. This is the first time in a long time I'm actually interested to see how the season plays out.
Yep, they finally broke me too. Actually, this is the second time I've given up on the Vikings winning the Super Bowl. I gave up after the 1998-1999 season, when the Vikings somehow lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game (to this day, I still have no idea how they did it, even though I watched the horror unfold before my very eyes). But I got sucked back in again last year, especially after they dismantled the Cowboys in the playoffs. Fool me once.
John Madden, woooo. Finally, this team has a decent center behind Mikko Koivu. I would've liked Mike Modano for sentimental reasons, but it's hard to see where he would have been a good fit given his age and declining skills. Speaking of Koivu, I have come around on his contract. At first, I thought it was a terrible cap hit, but upon further review, I think it's actually pretty reasonable compared to similar contracts. Also, I think it's pretty obvious I have no idea what is going on with this team. Sorry, the baseball season has been keeping me busy.
Old-timey diseases. Presented without comment.
And finally, one of the most somethingest radio calls I have ever heard. Geez guys, I know the Pirates don't win a ton of games, but act like you've been there before.
